The New Yorker has published, under the mantle of satire, an issue with a sure-to-sell cover. It has attracted a lot of flack, and the NY editor has stood up in defense. This video, commissioned by Amnesty International, publicizes its campaign to reduce government participation in torture. The directors of this video asked the actor to stand in the CIA-manual ‘stress position’ for six hours. The moans and sweat are as close to the real physio-psychological horror of torture as one can get. Go, unsubscribe yourself from some hypocrisy.
