I am sitting in on a class about Moby Dick and Melville. At today’s first meeting, to the question about why each of us were embarking on this journey, I said, it was because of the quest. Quests are less, I think, about the object of the quest and more about the transformation that occurs from the process. At some point, as with the previous post, the quest becomes the quester and the treasure becomes the dragon inside (“Our fears are like dragons guarding our most precious treasures. Rainer Maria Rilke (1875 – 1926) in Letters to A Young Poet).
